The whole chickens were on sale so I took it as a sign :)

Modified the spices slightly based on what we had, but you can't really go wrong with a chicken, ya know?

It was great! We were able to use the tendons and joints to make food for the dogs and right now the bones and veggie trimmings are back in the crock pot for overnight broth. Exciting!

Thank you!Dwija {House Unseen}https://www.blogger.com/profile/17887429052179249473noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4853477990546994356.post-22298273717042523582011-06-09T12:39:03.555-05:002011-06-09T12:39:03.555-05:00Jackie, I cook in the crockpot all the time and th...Jackie, I cook in the crockpot all the time and there are times I don't even add any liquid to the crockpot. Most store bought meat has enough added liquid that you don't need to add any. but if you want to seal in those juices sear you meat frist in a cast iron skillet.Lisa - the Granola Catholichttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09020431743182581746noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4853477990546994356.post-2396540412084374462011-06-09T00:48:58.682-05:002011-06-09T00:48:58.682-05:00Great tip! I feel like you need acid to keep the meat tender when you cook it that long (like lemon or tomatoes). I do chicken in the dutch oven occasionally though.Jackiehttp://blueberriesforme.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4853477990546994356.post-65384946318110259742011-06-08T23:31:11.646-05:002011-06-08T23:31:11.646-05:00Looks good!Looks good!Martha A.https://www.blogger.com/profile/02426112535240400393noreply@blogger.com
