The Heat is ON ! SOC

The Heat
Did you know you can get cabin fever during the Summer? This heat is brutal. We have experienced almost a whole month of temps above 100. Don’t tell me it is a dry heat. When the temp is 107 it does not matter if it is dry. It is too hot.
I don’t know why they call it the Dog Days of Summer, well I do, but that is another story. Seriously, the dogs want to go outside but, will only spend a few minutes outside and two of our dogs prefer to be outside.
Speaking of outside I can’t throw the kids outside in when it is 102. CPS would be on my but if I did. Child Endagerment and all that.
We are on a water restriction here. No watering lawns and they even want us to limit washing dishes, laundry and showers. Okay I am all for less work for me. But do they want us to share showers? Because when it is 100+ outside people tend to sweat. Silly isn’t it.
Our long range forecast into August says we have a 50-50 shot of this weather continuing. Seriously, What does that mean? It means they don’t KNOW when we will cool off. My prediction is we will cool off the just in time for the kids to need winter coats for trick or treating.

The Rules
This was my 5 minute Stream of Consciousness Sunday post. It’s five minutes of your time and a brain dump. Want to try it? Here are the rules…
  • Set a timer and write for 5 minutes only.
  • Write an intro to the post if you want but don’t edit the post. No proofreading or spellchecking. This is writing in the raw.
  • Publish it somewhere. Anywhere. The back door to your blog if you want. But make it accessible.
  • Go to All Things Fadra and link up if you want.

Oh it's a hot one outside. Minnesota 123 degrees, Minnesota! CRAZY! Maybe now people will take climate change a little more seriously, no? I hope you have a "cool" day! :)

It has been crazy hot in my part of the world too...and I'm ready for some coolness to come back.

If y'all weren't under water restriction the kids could do some of those classic summer activities, like play in the sprinklers.

Oddly enough, we're running pretty average here in Arizona. It's always about 108 to 110 this time of year.

@GGGG - Cannot imagine 123 in Minnesota. That is just wrong!

Michigan has been crazy hot and we have a "break" this week, but it's coming back late this week and will continue all through next week.

And as I looked at that on the calender, I realized ... that's into August. When did we get to August?!?!

Wow. I'm not sure where you are but it seems like most of the country is suffering. I'm in NC and can't stand it. It makes me loathe summer. I feel trapped inside!! BTW, did you change the look of your blog? It looks different and beautiful! Or maybe I just haven't been paying attention :)

Fadra, I have family in your neck of the woods, and from the looks of it your frequent some of the same places. RDU observation deck. So yes, I know what you are talking about weather wise.

Why, yes Fadra, I did tweak my design a little, just to clean it up. Thanks for noticing. It is still not exactly where I want it BUT, I am still doing the design myself, and we know what that means.

@Good Girl Gone Green - 123 degrees in MN? Seriously was that before the heat index? Yikes. I really feel for people who live where they are not used to the heat and don't have central A/C. We usually get one to two weeks of this heat but not 20 plus days. Today's forecast is for 105-110. Time to hit the movie theater I guess.

I hear ya on the heat! It can let up annnny time now! I'm working on training for the Susan G Komen 3 Day for the cure and the extreme heat makes that difficult if not dangerous!

It's been pretty hot here in SC, too. The problem here is that its that kind of heat that feels like slamming into a wall when you walk outside. Ugh!

123 in MN? That is INSANE!

@CK, I know training is important but PLAEAS be careful in this heat!

@CK please DO be careful, I got heat exhaustion last year and it is no fun. I was simply doing my morning run outside and running around with kids to do fun stuff. It kinda sneaked up on me, over the course of 4-5 days. Of course, DH was out of town to boot so I was home with the kiddos for a week trying to function.

All I have to say is welcome to TEXAS! This is how hot it usually is ALL summer long. It bites and it is miserable. Water has become my bestest, yes bestest, friend these days. Free A/C is also a plus at malls and play areas! Is it fall/winter yet?

Elyse, I have lived north of the red river now for 17 years and this is the hottest summer on record ever. We get this heat here but not usually this early or for this long. As I am writing this, this is supposed to be the hottest day so far of the summer and we are 108 at 1pm.
