7 Quick Takes

1
This week saw me taking a little sabbatical. The power cord on my laptop, decided it had seen enough abuse and quit. Since I am frugal, read cheap, I decided that I would tough it out and wait a couple of extra days to get a new power cord via mail instead of mall.  Interestingly enough I did not have any withdrawals and people still read my blog.

The heat is back! Last week we had a nice little reprieve from the 100 degree plus temps. Yesterday they came back. It is still August after all, and August is typically the hottest month of the year here.

My oldest wants to be homeschooled. She says the kids in her class are more interested in socializing than learning, which is true. She is a highly motivated student and would be happy to accelerate in her learning. Meanwhile my youngest is on his own time schedule for learning to read. But we will plod ahead.

I spent my computer free time trying to reclaim my garden beds, and reading a lot. I should have been cleaning the house but it is clean enough for the kids.

This weekend  Deacon G starts his new assignment as a Deacon. He has been assigned to the Office of Divine Worship and to here.

My mother always told me that you are lucky if you can count your true  friends on one hand. These are the friends that you could call to tell anything to. They don’t judge you they accept you for who you are. I would like to add you never know where your friends come from.  If you keep an open spirit then you will find new friends in the most exciting and mundane places. Tonight I will be spending some time with a dear friend.  While we have know each other for about 5 years, it has only been the last year that we have really gotten to know each other.  Friends are like angels sent by God to make our lives a little more pleasurable.

Soccer season will soon be starting here. One more season of a kid playing. One more season of me coaching. I think that this may be my last season coaching. After coaching for 7 + years. I started out when Pi was in 1st grade coaching. Now two kids latter, I am coaching my youngest in U8 soccer.  I am ready, I think, to sit on the side lines or to try something new.  Blogger disclaimer – this picture was taken during a much colder month. I am sure that the kids will not be dressed like this in September this year.
